Travel Details Required for PNGDAC
The Papua New Guinea Digital Arrival Card asks for information about the journey bringing you into PNG. Keep your passport and confirmed itinerary beside you and copy the travel details from those records rather than entering them from memory.
PNGDAC is a free pre-arrival border declaration and is separate from a visa. ICA currently allows online submission up to 72 hours before arrival and, under its August 2026 direction, requires travellers to complete the card before a boarding pass is issued.
Flight and arrival information to have ready
Your arrival-card record should describe the journey you will actually use to enter Papua New Guinea. With connecting flights, focus on the final sector that lands in PNG.
Arrival date
Enter the date the flight is scheduled to arrive in Papua New Guinea. An overnight journey may arrive the following day.
Point of embarkation
For a connection, this is normally the place from which you board the sector that enters PNG, rather than where the whole journey began.
PNG arrival point
Use the port or airport shown for your international arrival, not a later domestic destination.
Example: for Tokyo → Brisbane → Port Moresby, the PNG-bound sector is Brisbane → Port Moresby. Use that sector where the form asks about the flight entering PNG.
Purpose of travel and stay information
Your answers should be consistent with the status under which you are travelling and with your real itinerary.
- Travel purpose: select the description that genuinely matches the trip from the choices in the live form.
- Length of stay: calculate your intended stay from your itinerary and keep it within the conditions of your visa or entry authority.
- Visa or immigration information: where requested, copy the relevant details from your approved documentation rather than guessing a visa label.

Where you will stay in Papua New Guinea
Prepare a usable local accommodation or contact address before opening the form.
Hotel, lodge or resort
Keep the property name and location from your booking confirmation available.
Friends or relatives
Ask your host for their current residential address and contact details before you begin.
Business visit
Keep the local company or sponsor contact and the address relevant to your stay ready where requested.
Multiple PNG stops
Keep the full itinerary available and enter the accommodation information requested by the form accurately.
Connecting flights: avoid a common mistake
Separate the international sector that crosses the PNG border from earlier connections and from domestic flights after immigration clearance. Find the flight that lands in PNG, copy its carrier, number and arrival date, then confirm the departure city for that sector. A later Port Moresby-to-Goroka or Port Moresby-to-Kokopo flight is not the international arrival flight.
What if your flight or hotel changes?
ICA provides an Update PNGDAC function for corrections or changes before travel, including flight details, travel dates, accommodation and personal information. ICA says the most recent information is used for official processing.
Practical rule: if an airline rebooks your PNG-bound flight or your accommodation changes before departure, review the submitted PNGDAC and use the official update function where needed.
After you submit
Review the declaration carefully. ICA guidance says the confirmation can be received by email or downloaded. Keep it accessible with your passport for check-in and arrival processing.
The August 2026 ICA notice makes PNGDAC a mandatory pre-arrival requirement and instructs airlines and check-in personnel that it must be completed before boarding-pass issuance. Older ICA material refers to airport kiosks, but travellers should follow the newer pre-departure direction.
Travel-detail mistakes worth checking twice
- Using the first flight of a multi-sector journey instead of the sector that actually lands in PNG.
- Entering the departure date when an overnight flight arrives the following day.
- Using a domestic PNG destination as the international arrival point.
- Leaving an old hotel in the record after changing accommodation.
- Choosing a purpose of travel that conflicts with the entry permission being used.
- Typing details from memory when the exact information is on your itinerary.
