When to Submit the PNG Digital Arrival Card | PNGDAC Guide
The official rule is simple: PNGDAC can be submitted up to 72 hours before you enter Papua New Guinea. Under the newer pre-boarding requirement, complete it before your airline issues your boarding pass—not after you arrive at the airport.
PNGDAC is free and is separate from your visa or entry permit.
The official timing window
Count back three days from your PNG arrival
PNG Immigration's traveller guide describes the window as up to 72 hours before entering Papua New Guinea. Another official guide expresses the same rule as three days before the arrival date. The reference point is your arrival in PNG, not simply the time you leave home.

Check-in
Must already be completeSince the 6 August 2026 directive, airlines and ground handlers are instructed to ensure PNGDAC is completed before a boarding pass is issued.
Important correction: older ICA material says travellers who had not submitted online could use kiosks on arrival at Jacksons International Airport. A newer August 2026 ICA public notice makes PNGDAC a mandatory pre-arrival requirement and says it must be completed before boarding-pass issuance. For current travel planning, complete it before check-in.

Use details that match the trip you are actually taking
- Passport: enter identity details exactly as shown in the passport you will present for travel.
- Flight: use the flight that brings you into Papua New Guinea, including the current arrival date.
- Accommodation: provide the requested PNG stay details accurately.
- Declarations: answer health, customs and other declaration questions truthfully.
- Confirmation: keep the submitted confirmation accessible for airline and arrival checks.
Delays, new flights and corrections
If your plans change, update the existing PNGDAC
PNG Immigration provides an Update PNGDAC function. Its official guidance says previously submitted information can be amended when details change before travel, including flight information, travel dates, accommodation or personal information. The most recent information is used for official processing.

Do not create unnecessary duplicate declarations simply because a flight changes when the official update function can correct the existing record.
Confirmation and airport use
Keep the confirmation ready from check-in through arrival
ICA's PNGDAC guidance says travellers receive confirmation after submitting and must present the submission confirmation with their passport to a Papua New Guinea officer on arrival. The August 2026 directive also moves the practical check earlier: the card must be completed before boarding-pass issuance.
You can therefore treat the confirmation as part of your travel-document set alongside your passport, visa or entry permission where required, and onward itinerary.

Avoid these problems before departure
Submitting too early
The official window is up to 72 hours before entering PNG. If you are outside that window, wait until your arrival falls within it.
Waiting until the destination airport
Do not plan around the older arrival-kiosk fallback. Current ICA instructions require completion before the airline issues your boarding pass.
Using an old itinerary
If your inbound flight or accommodation changes, use the update facility so your most recent submission matches the trip.
Assuming PNGDAC replaces immigration permission
The digital arrival card is not a visa. Visa and passport rules still apply independently.

What if my flight changes after submission?
Use ICA's Update PNGDAC function to amend flight details, travel dates, accommodation or other information before travel.
Does every traveller need PNGDAC?
The August 2026 ICA notice applies the mandatory pre-arrival requirement to PNG citizens, permanent residents and all foreign nationals.
Is there a PNGDAC fee?
No. ICA states that use of PNGDAC is free of charge.
