PNG Tourism describes accommodation across the country as ranging from comfortable city hotels and eco-lodges to guesthouses and remote stays. The practical difference is access: a Port Moresby hotel may be reached by shuttle from Jacksons International Airport, while a lodge in the Highlands, Sepik or Oro Province may depend on a domestic flight, charter, 4WD transfer or boat connection.

That makes the cheapest room a poor comparison if another property includes a necessary transfer, local guide or meal plan. Before booking, ask what is included and how you physically reach the property.

Business hotels and reliable airport connections

The capital has the country's widest choice of full-service accommodation. For many visitors, the deciding factors are airport transfer arrangements, location relative to meetings or domestic flights, and the ability to dine or work without unnecessary movement around the city.

Hilton Port Moresby Hotel & Residences

Located in Star Mountain Plaza in Hohola. Hilton's current property information lists a complimentary airport shuttle, secured parking, five restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool, meeting facilities and residence-style accommodation. Hilton lists Jacksons International Airport at about 6 km.

Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites

Marriott describes this Waigani hotel as being within a secure precinct and directly connected to Vision City. It offers rooms, suites and serviced apartments, plus dining, spa, fitness and pool facilities. Marriott also lists an airport shuttle and Jacksons International Airport at approximately 3.7 km.

Airways Hotel

Airways Hotel is positioned beside the Jacksons International Airport area at 7 Mile. Current business listings describe it as a full-service hotel with airport views, dining, spa and recreation facilities, making it practical for short transit stays and early departures.

Do not hard-code nightly prices. Rates change by date, room type, event period, taxes and cancellation terms.

Urban accommodation strategy

Focus on practical security features, not sensational labels

Current travel advice justifies careful security planning in Port Moresby and other major centres, but an accommodation guide is more useful when it explains what travellers should actually check.

The current public visitor-visa page does not establish one universal rule saying that every visitor must upload a confirmed hotel reservation covering every night.
