Only the competent PNG authorities can approve, refuse, cancel or condition a visa or Entry Permit.

Official PNG visa structure
PNG has several visa families—not one universal eVisa route
ICA currently groups visa options under broad purposes including Visit, Conduct Business, Study, Specialise, Work and Live. Its electronic portal also lists online visa types including Business, Entertainer, Restricted, Special Exemption, Visitor and Working Resident.
For that reason, VisaPNG should not describe Papua New Guinea as having moved “almost entirely” to one electronic tourist-visa framework. Different travellers can face different routes based on nationality, passport type, purpose and intended activity.
ICA also maintains a current Visa on Arrival framework for eligible countries and passport categories.

Visitor, business and specialist categories
Holiday, sightseeing, friends and family
ICA describes the Visitor Visa as the route for holidays, sightseeing, social or recreational travel and visiting relatives or friends.
ICA says visitor visas are issued according to individual circumstances and, in most circumstances, are valid for a single-entry stay of 60 days from arrival.
Short-term business activity
ICA's Business Visa covers genuine business activity and certain approved short-term employment situations. In most circumstances, the standard Business Visa is a single-entry stay of 30 days.
PNG also has a Business Short-Term Multiple Entry class for permissible business activities and meetings that do not constitute labour or employment.
Employment and other purposes
Paid employment, specialist work, journalism, approved paid or unpaid activities and other purposes use dedicated visa categories. The visa should match what the traveller will actually do in PNG.

How VisaPNG should handle immigration information
Prefer primary sources
Visa and entry claims should be checked against ICA/ICSA, PNG Customs and other competent authorities whenever possible.
Separate rules from advice
A legal requirement, airline practice and sensible travel precaution are not the same thing. Our pages should label the difference.
Avoid invented precision
Do not publish fixed bank-balance targets, guaranteed processing times or mandatory paper-copy rules without reliable support.
Correct stale claims
When a newer official notice changes an older process, the newer operational instruction should be identified clearly.
Use nationality-specific wording
Visa on Arrival and eVisa access should not be generalized across all passports.
Disclose independence
Users should never have to guess whether VisaPNG is government-operated.
Core entry preparation
What most travellers should verify before departure
ICA's general guidance says passports should remain valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry. Travellers should also hold the visa or entry permission applicable to their nationality and purpose.
ICA's Visitor Visa page says applicants must be genuine visitors who intend to leave PNG at the end of their stay, and supporting evidence may be requested depending on individual circumstances.
VisaPNG therefore treats flight itineraries, accommodation evidence and financial documents as context-dependent application evidence unless ICA expressly requires a particular item for the chosen class.
PNG Digital Arrival Card
PNGDAC is separate from the visa process
On 6 August 2026, ICSA issued a notice telling international airlines, ground handlers and check-in personnel that the PNG Digital Arrival Card (PNGDAC) is mandatory for PNG citizens, permanent residents and all foreign nationals.
The notice says travellers must complete the card before their boarding pass is issued. PNGDAC is therefore a border requirement, not a replacement for a visa or Entry Permit.

Questions about our role
Is VisaPNG an official Papua New Guinea government website?
No. VisaPNG is an independent third-party information and support platform. It is not ICA/ICSA, a PNG embassy, a consulate or another government office.
Can VisaPNG approve my visa?
No. VisaPNG has no legal power to approve, reject, cancel or amend an Entry Permit.
Is every Papua New Guinea visa an eVisa?
No. PNG has multiple visa purposes and application routes. ICA maintains electronic services and an active Visa on Arrival framework for eligible passports.
How long is a PNG Visitor Visa?
ICA currently says Visitor Visas are issued according to individual circumstances and, in most circumstances, are valid for a single-entry stay of 60 days from arrival.
Does VisaPNG charge official government fees?
Official migration fees are determined by PNG authorities. Any independent assistance or service charge should be clearly separated from government fees.
Does PNGDAC replace my visa?
No. PNGDAC is a separate digital arrival requirement and the August 2026 notice requires completion before boarding-pass issuance.
