PNG Arrival Card Errors and Corrections

Made a mistake on your Papua New Guinea Digital Arrival Card (PNGDAC)? In many cases you do not need to start again. ICA provides an Update PNGDAC function for editable travel and declaration details, while identity fields such as your passport number and date of birth require a fresh submission if entered incorrectly.

Correction decision

Update the existing PNGDAC or submit a new one?

Use Update PNGDAC

Travel details changed

Use the update function when your flight, arrival date, accommodation or another editable field has changed.

Submit a new form

Identity field is wrong

ICA says Full Name, Passport Number, Nationality and Date of Birth cannot be changed through the update function.

Latest valid record

You submitted twice

Multiple submissions are allowed. ICA says the most recent valid submission will be considered your declaration.

Option 1

How to update an existing PNGDAC

1

Open the official PNGDAC website

Go to the PNGDAC service and choose “Update PNGDAC.”

2

Search for your submission

Enter the information requested by the system to locate the declaration you previously submitted.

3

Edit the incorrect information

Correct eligible travel, accommodation, health, goods or other editable details.

4

Review the complete form again

Check flight number, arrival date, PNG address and declarations before resubmitting.

5

Submit the amendment

ICA says the system records amendments and uses the most recently updated information for official processing.

6

Save the new confirmation

Download the updated PNGDAC document or retain the updated confirmation received through email.

ICA's short guide says PNGDAC can be updated until arrival at the airport. Because the August 2026 airline directive requires completion before boarding-pass issuance, make corrections as early as possible rather than waiting for the arrival terminal.

Locked fields

Four identity details cannot be fixed with Update PNGDAC

Full Name

If the submitted name is materially wrong, file a new declaration using the passport details correctly.

Passport Number

A wrong passport number requires a new submission rather than editing the existing record.

Nationality

Nationality is another locked identity field in ICA's current update rules.

Date of Birth

If the date of birth is incorrect, submit a new PNGDAC with the correct identity information.

Why this matters

These fields are central to matching the declaration to the passport presented at immigration.

What replaces the old record?

ICA says the latest valid submission is the one considered when multiple declarations exist.

Option 2

When submitting a fresh PNGDAC is the right fix

Submit a new form when the information you need to correct cannot be changed through the official update tool. ICA specifically recommends this for the four locked identity fields.

A new submission is also a practical recovery route if an earlier declaration contains major errors. The system permits multiple submissions.

No need to “delete” the old declaration first: ICA's FAQ says that when there are multiple submissions for one individual, the most recent valid submission is considered.

Common corrections

What to do when your trip changes after submission

Flight number

Your airline or flight changed

Update the flight information so the declaration reflects the service on which you actually expect to arrive.

Arrival date

Your travel date moved

ICA explicitly lists travel-date corrections as a reason to use Update PNGDAC.

Accommodation

Your hotel changed

Update the PNG address before entry. ICA's FAQ says flight or hotel changes should be corrected before entering PNG.

Health declaration

You selected the wrong answer

Correct an inaccurate health declaration before entry whenever the system permits. Do not knowingly leave a false answer in place.

Goods declaration

You forgot food or restricted goods

Correct the declaration online when possible. If an issue remains at border processing, proactively tell the relevant officer before clearance.

Passport replaced

You now have a new passport number

Since passport number is locked, submit a new PNGDAC using the passport you will actually present for travel.

Portal troubleshooting

What to do when the correction itself is not working

No confirmation email

ICA's FAQ says to contact the Immigration Officer at the entry checkpoint if confirmation was not received. Before travel, also check junk/spam folders and save any downloadable confirmation shown by the portal.

Website unavailable

The official FAQ recommends keeping a screenshot of the website error and contacting airport or immigration staff.

No smartphone or internet

ICA's FAQ still mentions airport kiosks, but the later August 2026 directive requires PNGDAC completion before boarding-pass issuance. Seek airline or ICA assistance before departure instead of assuming a kiosk will override check-in enforcement.

OTP or email delay

Recheck the email address, inspect spam and junk folders, and avoid repeatedly creating inconsistent forms while waiting for a delayed message.

Lost your old confirmation

ICA says submitted details can be viewed in the downloaded PNGDAC document or email. If a locked identity error must be fixed, a fresh correct submission remains available.

Still unresolved before check-in

Contact PNGDAC support or your airline before the boarding-pass stage, because PNGDAC is now an explicit pre-boarding requirement.

Website outage warning

A screenshot is evidence of a problem—not a guaranteed boarding waiver

ICA's PNGDAC FAQ says travellers who encounter a website error should keep a screenshot and contact airport or immigration staff on arrival. That guidance was written alongside the kiosk fallback.

However, on 6 August 2026, ICSA issued a later directive to international airlines, ground handlers and check-in staff requiring all travellers to complete PNGDAC before a boarding pass is issued.

Do not tell travellers that an error screenshot automatically guarantees boarding or that they can always solve the problem after landing. Use the screenshot when requesting assistance from the airline or ICA, and resolve the submission before departure whenever possible.

Before resubmitting

Review the details most likely to cause a mismatch

Passport identity

Full name, passport number, nationality and date of birth should match the passport you will present.

Arrival flight

Confirm airline, flight number and the actual date the aircraft lands in Port Moresby.

PNG address

Use the accommodation or host address that accurately reflects your first stay in Papua New Guinea.

Travel purpose

The arrival-card purpose should not contradict the visa or entry authority under which you are travelling.

Health answers

Review answers carefully rather than automatically selecting “No” throughout the declaration.

Goods declarations

Declare relevant food, plant, animal, currency or restricted-item information honestly and consistently.

What not to do

Avoid turning a small typo into a larger border-data problem

Do not knowingly keep false information

If you spot a material mistake, correct it or submit a replacement before entry.

Do not create random duplicates

Multiple submissions are allowed, but unnecessary inconsistent forms make your own record-keeping harder.

Do not pay unofficial “correction fees”

The PNGDAC service is free. Be cautious of third-party sites presenting themselves as the government portal.

Errors and corrections FAQ

Common PNGDAC correction questions

Can I edit a PNGDAC after submitting it?

Yes. ICA provides an Update PNGDAC function for eligible fields and says updates can be made before entry into Papua New Guinea.

Which details cannot be edited?

Full Name, Passport Number, Nationality and Date of Birth cannot be changed using Update PNGDAC.

What if my passport number is wrong?

Submit a new PNGDAC with the correct passport number. ICA recommends a fresh form when a field cannot be updated.

Can I submit PNGDAC more than once?

Yes. ICA explicitly allows multiple submissions with correct information.

Which submission will immigration use?

The official FAQ states that the most recent valid submission will be considered.

What if my flight or hotel changes?

Update the existing declaration or submit a corrected one before entry. ICA specifically identifies flight and hotel changes as details that must be kept accurate.

Do I need to print the confirmation?

No. ICA says printing is not mandatory and recommends downloading the confirmation to a phone or device; a printed copy can be carried as a backup.

What if I did not receive the confirmation email?

Check spam/junk folders and any downloadable portal confirmation. ICA's FAQ says passengers without the confirmation email should contact an Immigration Officer at the entry checkpoint.

Can I rely on an airport kiosk if the website fails?

Older ICA guidance still refers to arrival kiosks, but the later 6 August 2026 directive requires PNGDAC completion before boarding-pass issuance. Treat kiosks as legacy/fallback guidance, not a guaranteed exemption from airline check-in enforcement.

Fix before departure

Correct the declaration that matches the passport you will use

Use Update PNGDAC for editable travel details. If a locked identity field is wrong, submit a fresh declaration and save the latest valid confirmation before airline check-in.
