Track or Trail?
Both names are used—but KTA uses “Kokoda Track”
You will see both Kokoda Track and Kokoda Trail in books, memorials and tourism material. The Kokoda Track Authority uses “Track” in its official name and management information, while the Australian War Memorial often uses “Trail” when discussing the wartime campaign.
For travellers, the important point is the route itself: the KTA describes the modern crossing from Owers' Corner to Kokoda as 96 kilometres, with much of the present route still following wartime tracks even though there are local variations and deviations.
