Papua New Guinea eVisa Multiple Entry | Which Classes Allow It?
Papua New Guinea does offer multiple-entry Entry Permits, but they are not standard tourist visas. The principal online route for recurring commercial travel is the Business Short-Term Multiple Entry visa, currently valid for 12 months with up to 60 days from each arrival. ICA's live eVisa system also lists certain Foreign Official classes as multiple entry, while employment-based Entry Permits can be issued for multiple entry in line with the approved work permit.

Eligibility criteria
The application needs a real business relationship in PNG
Overseas employment
ICA states that you must be a full-time employee of the company you will represent in PNG.
Sufficient funds
You must be able to support yourself and accompanying dependants during the stay.
Temporary intent
You must intend to return to your country after the permitted stay.
Good character
ICA may request a police clearance certificate.
Good health
The applicant must satisfy ICA's health requirements.
PNG sponsor
You need a genuine invitation from a PNG-based sponsor whose company is registered with the Investment Promotion Authority.

Use the final amount displayed by the live ICA payment system before authorising the transaction, because ICA may convert and levy fees according to its current payment rules.

How the 12-month structure works

Clock 1 — Visa validity
The visa remains valid for repeated entries during its 12-month validity period.
Clock 2 — Each stay
Each arrival starts a stay period of up to 60 days.
Exit before stay ends
You must leave before the individual stay period expires.
No in-country extension
ICA states that no extension is allowed for this visa class.
No change of status
The live class also states that no Change of Status is permitted.
Repeated entry is not residence
The class remains a temporary business permit rather than a long-term employment or residence route.

Important:
not every multiple-entry Entry Permit is a self-service visitor eVisa. Employment and residence routes can require sponsor, work-permit or other structural approvals.
Tourist and visitor routes
Standard visitor permits are single entry
ICA's current Visitor Visa page says that, in most circumstances, a Visitor Visa is issued for a single-entry stay of 60 days from arrival.
ICA's 2025 visa booklet separately describes both the 30-day and 60-day Easy Visitor Permit routes as single entry.
Practical meaning:
if you leave PNG after entering on a single-entry visitor permit, do not assume the unused days remain available for a second entry.
Working Resident permits
Employment-based permits can be multiple entry—but they are not tourist eVisas
Work permit linked
ICA states that employment-based Entry Permits are issued for multiple entry in accordance with the approved work permit.
Up to three years
ICA's current guidance says employment Entry Permits can be valid up to three years, with longer arrangements possible in specific approved categories.
Sponsor / employment process
This route requires employment authorization and is structurally different from a short-term business eVisa.
Six-month absence rule
Do not describe it as an automatic system revocation
ICA's current Entry and Re-entry Requirements state that existing Entry Permit holders, except Permanent Resident Entry Permit holders, must not be absent from PNG for more than six months.
Absent under six months
Continue to check that the permit and passport remain valid for the proposed return.
Absent six months or more
ICA says a further Entry Permit application is required before seeking to return to PNG.
Fresh checks
ICA states that new health and character checks are required in those cases.
Permanent residents
The general six-month absence rule expressly excludes Permanent Resident Entry Permit holders.
Not an “auto-delete” statement
ICA does not describe this policy as the portal automatically revoking the permit the moment six months is reached.
Check before return
Long absences should be resolved with ICA before booking a return journey.
First-use rule
Approved Entry Permits must generally be used within six months of issue
ICA states that the holder of an Entry Permit must enter Papua New Guinea within six months of the permit being issued. If the permit is not used within that period, it becomes invalid and a further application is required.
This first-use rule is separate from the Business Short-Term Multiple Entry class's 12-month validity and 60-day per-arrival stay conditions.
Dependants
A business traveller's multiple-entry visa does not automatically cover family members
ICA states that dependent family members must make a separate Entry Permit application.
For dependants of a Business Short-Term Multiple Entry holder, ICA says they will in most circumstances be eligible to apply for a Tourist Visa rather than being added automatically to the business permit.

Do not turn convenient shorthand into incorrect policy
“Only one PNG class is multiple entry”
Incorrect. Business Short-Term Multiple Entry is the main business example, but ICA also publishes multiple-entry official, employment and residence routes.
“All tourist eVisas can be reused”
Incorrect. Current visitor guidance describes the standard visitor routes as single entry.
“Leaving resets another 60 days forever”
No. Re-entry is allowed only while the multiple-entry permit itself remains valid and all conditions continue to be met.
“Business multiple entry allows employment”
Incorrect. ICA states that the permitted business activities must not constitute labour or employment.
“Six months outside automatically deletes the permit”
ICA says a further Entry Permit application is required before return; it does not describe an instantaneous automated deletion.
“Working Resident is just a longer business eVisa”
Incorrect. Employment permits are sponsor/work-permit based and legally authorize a different purpose.
