PNG Visa Application Support | VisaPNG Help

The VisaPNG Application Support Desk is an independent troubleshooting guide for people preparing or managing a Papua New Guinea visa application. Use it to diagnose document-upload problems, payment questions, application-status pauses and pre-flight compliance issues without confusing third-party advice with official ICA rules.

When VisaPNG cannot fix it

Some issues require ICA to correct the record, investigate a payment or explain a formal decision.

Escalate correctly

Module 1

Fix document upload failures without inventing portal rules

The official eVisa portal says applicants must first select the correct visa class and confirm the documents required for that class. After entering application details, the applicant uploads those required documents before submission.

ICA does not publish one universal rule saying every attachment must be under 10 MB, every photo must be JPG, or every other document must be PDF for every visa class.

Best practice: follow the exact upload instructions displayed inside your chosen visa class. If the portal rejects a file, simplify it rather than guessing at a hidden rule.

A practical upload checklist

Work from document quality first

1

Open the file yourself

Verify that every page renders before uploading it. A corrupt PDF can look like a portal failure.

2

Check readability

Passport numbers, names, signatures, stamps and dates should be readable without extreme zoom.

3

Reduce unnecessary resolution

Very large scans can be harder to upload. Compress carefully without making the evidence blurry.

4

Use simple filenames

Letters, numbers and underscores reduce the chance of browser or upload-parser problems.

5

Avoid password protection

Do not upload encrypted or password-protected PDFs unless the portal explicitly says they are supported.

6

Retry cleanly

Refresh the session or use another current browser if the upload control becomes unresponsive.

Passport data

Consistency matters more than “phonetic” guesswork

Use the passport fields

Enter surname, given names, passport number, nationality and date of birth consistently with the physical passport.

Use the MRZ as a cross-check

The Machine-Readable Zone is useful for confirming transliteration and passport details, especially where accented characters appear.

Do not blindly convert names

Do not assume every “ü” must become “ue” or every accented name follows one fixed manual rule. Follow the passport and portal field instructions.

Module 2

Understand what happens at payment

ICA's eVisa portal explains that once the application details and required uploads are complete, the visa fee must be paid before the application is automatically submitted.

After payment, the portal sends a receipt email. If the application can be granted automatically, the applicant receives an authority-to-travel document by email; cases requiring further consideration receive the final decision later.

The official payment disclaimer says online portal applications include an Online Lodgment Service Fee (OLSF) of US$50, while the underlying Migration Service Fee can vary by visa class and may sometimes be zero.

Fees and refunds

Do not describe every fee as universally non-refundable

The official payment-gateway disclaimer states that the online lodgement service fee is non-refundable.

It separately says that the Migration Service Fee may be refundable in very limited circumstances. Refund questions therefore depend on which charge is being disputed.

Module 3

If the application needs further consideration

Read the actual message

Use the portal dashboard and the email associated with the application. The exact officer request matters more than generic status labels found on third-party websites.

Correct the requested issue

If ICA asks for another document or clarification, respond with the requested evidence rather than uploading unrelated material.

Avoid unnecessary duplicate applications

A second application can add cost and confusion. Create another case only when the portal or ICA instructions make that necessary.

Processing times

Do not promise a universal 48–72 hour decision

The official portal explains the submission and decision process but does not publish one universal processing time that applies to every eVisa category.

Visa class, nationality, supporting evidence, security checks and requests for further information can all affect timing. Build a buffer into your travel planning rather than relying on an unofficial “2–3 day guarantee.”

Departure compliance

What you should have ready before airport check-in

Passport

Six months validity

ICA's current FAQ says the passport must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry.

Visa

Correct entry authority

If your route requires a visa before travel, ensure the approval matches your passport and purpose.

PNGDAC

Complete it before boarding pass issuance

The official 6 August 2026 directive makes PNGDAC completion a pre-boarding requirement for all persons travelling to PNG.

Visa copy

Carry accessible evidence

Save the authority-to-travel or visa document offline and carry a printed backup where practical.

Onward travel

Keep the itinerary accessible

ICA's FAQ says return-travel evidence may be requested in some circumstances. Keep confirmed onward travel information available.

Documents

Carry relevant supporting evidence

ICA visa-class pages warn that border officials may request documentary evidence used to support an application.

What not to claim

Avoid these common support-page mistakes

“All files must be under 10 MB”

Only state a size limit when the relevant portal field or official visa-class guidance actually displays it.

“All documents must be PDF”

Document requirements vary. Follow the format accepted by the exact upload slot.

“Every tourist visa is $50”

US$50 is the online lodgement service fee; the Migration Service Fee depends on the visa class and can differ.

“All approvals take 48–72 hours”

ICA does not publish one universal guaranteed processing time across all visa classes.

“Digital visa copies are rejected”

Carry a printed backup, but do not state universal smartphone rejection without an official rule or document-specific instruction.

“A duplicate application resets your queue”

A duplicate can create confusion and additional cost, but ICSA does not publicly state that it mechanically resets a queue position.

When to contact ICA

Some problems cannot be fixed by changing a PDF

Contact the official immigration service when the issue involves an incorrect government record, unexplained payment outcome, formal refusal, account-access problem that cannot be recovered, or a document request you do not understand.

When contacting support, include the application reference number, applicant name, passport number only where the secure support process requests it, payment date if relevant, and a concise description of the problem.

Application support FAQ

Common questions

Why will my document not upload?

Confirm the exact document requirement for your visa class, make sure the file opens and is readable, reduce excessive file size, use a standard accepted format, simplify the filename and retry in a current browser.

Is there a universal 10 MB upload limit?

ICA does not publish one universal 10 MB rule across all visa classes on the general eVisa guidance. Use the limit displayed by the relevant upload field if one is shown.

When is my application actually submitted?

The official portal says the visa fee is paid after the form and required uploads are complete, and payment triggers automatic submission.

Is the US$50 online fee refundable?

The official payment disclaimer says the Online Lodgment Service Fee is non-refundable. It distinguishes this from the Migration Service Fee, for which refunds may exist in very limited circumstances.

What if I was charged but did not see a receipt?

Do not immediately pay again. Check email, the portal application state and your card account first. If the transaction remains unclear, contact the official service with the application and payment details.

Does every PNG eVisa take 48–72 hours?

No universal official guarantee applies across all visa classes. Processing can vary according to the application and whether further consideration is required.

Do I need PNGDAC even after my visa is approved?

Yes. PNGDAC is a separate border requirement. The 6 August 2026 directive says all travellers must complete it before their boarding pass is issued.

How long must my passport be valid?

ICA's current FAQ states that the passport must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry.

Need to diagnose a problem?

Use the exact portal message as your starting point

The fastest way to troubleshoot is to identify the visa class, application stage, exact error message and the document or payment action that triggered it. Avoid making a second application until you know what failed.
