For current Easy Visitor Permit 30- and 60-day applications, the stated core document is the passport biodata-page copy. Business, employment, journalist, specialist and long-stay applications require more extensive evidence. The best document strategy is therefore simple: choose the visa class first, then prepare the exact documents ICA lists for that class.

Passport evidence

The passport biodata page is the central identity document

Validity

ICA states that the passport must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry.

Readable identity data

Make sure the applicant's name, passport number, nationality and expiry date are legible.

Full biodata page

Avoid crops that remove important passport information or make the document hard to verify.

Use the travel passport

Apply using the same passport you intend to present for travel.

Do not invent a universal MRZ rule

The current ICA public guidance reviewed here does not state that every applicant must always enter their name using MRZ transliteration.

Blank pages

The current general ICA guidance reviewed here does not establish a universal requirement for two facing blank pages on every eVisa application.

Applicant photograph

A photo is not a universal Easy Visitor upload

Many visa websites publish passport-photo rules as though a separate portrait is mandatory for every PNG eVisa applicant. ICA's current Easy Visitor Permit 30- and 60-day instructions reviewed here do not list a separate applicant photograph among the required documents.

Other visa classes or portal fields may request an image. If the live application asks for one, follow the exact on-screen file and image requirements.

File format & size

Use the limits shown by the live portal field

No universal 10 MB rule confirmed

The current public ICA material reviewed for this guide does not establish one eVisa-wide rule that every upload must be under 10 MB.

No universal JPG/PDF split

Use the accepted format shown by the specific upload field rather than assuming every photograph must be JPG and every document must be PDF.

Readability matters

Keep scans legible. Avoid glare, severe compression, missing pages, dark shadows and screenshots that cut off important text.

Business Short-Term Multiple Entry

Business applications require a deeper corporate evidence pack

Passport biodata page

ICA requires a copy of the applicant's passport biodata page.

PNG invitation letter

The PNG business associate should state the purpose of visit, duration, location of business and proposed frequency of visits.

Employer sponsorship letter

ICA requires a company/employer letter with the applicant's details, duration of stay, flight details and financial-maintenance statement, issued on company letterhead with seal and signature.

Return airline ticket

ICA explicitly lists a copy of the return airline ticket for the current Business Short-Term Multiple Entry class.

IPA-registered PNG sponsor

The class criteria require a genuine invitation from a PNG-based sponsor registered with the Investment Promotion Authority.

Personal bank statement

ICA specifically states that a personal bank statement is not mandatory, although it may be requested.

Financial evidence

Do not present bank statements as a universal tourist requirement

No universal three-month rule

ICA does not state that every PNG eVisa applicant must submit three months of personal statements.

No universal US$1,500–2,000 threshold

The current official ICA material reviewed here does not publish a fixed tourist cash-balance minimum of this amount.

Business Multiple Entry

Personal bank statements are not mandatory for this class, although ICA may request them.

Longer / specialist stays

Financial or sponsor evidence can be relevant depending on the class.

If ICA requests a statement

Provide the document in the form ICA asks for, rather than relying on a generic third-party template.

Consistency

Any financial evidence should be genuine and consistent with the declared trip and sponsor arrangements.

Return / onward travel

Return-ticket evidence is class-specific

ICA's general FAQ says that in some circumstances applicants may be asked to provide evidence of return travel as part of the visa application process.

Some specific classes go further. For example, the current Business Short-Term Multiple Entry class expressly requires a copy of the return airline ticket.

Better wording: keep return or onward travel evidence ready, but do not say every Easy Visitor applicant must always upload a fully paid ticket unless the live class requires it.

Keep accommodation information coherent with your itinerary, but current Easy Visitor Permit instructions reviewed here do not list a universal hotel-voucher upload.

Cover letter

Trip explanation

A clear itinerary or cover letter can help if requested, but ICA's current Easy Visitor 30- and 60-day instructions do not list a universal Chief Migration Officer cover letter.

Invitation evidence

Business, work, journalist and specialist classes can expressly require invitation, sponsor or approval letters.

Medical & character documents

Longer or specialist stays can trigger formal checks

Yellow fever certificate

This is an entry-health document, not a universal eVisa upload

No local yellow fever risk

TravelHealthPro states that Papua New Guinea has no yellow fever transmission risk.

Certificate requirement

A certificate is required for travellers aged one year or over arriving from countries with yellow fever transmission risk.

Transit can trigger it

The requirement also applies to travellers who have transited through an airport in a yellow-fever-risk country.

Certificate validity

Under WHO rules, a valid yellow fever certificate is valid for the lifetime of the vaccinated person.

Primary vaccination timing

A first yellow fever certificate generally becomes valid 10 days after vaccination.

Check itinerary

Review all origin and transit points, not only the final departure airport.

PNG Digital Arrival Card

PNGDAC is mandatory but separate from your eVisa document pack

ICA's 6 August 2026 notice makes PNGDAC a mandatory pre-arrival requirement for PNG citizens, permanent residents and all foreign nationals travelling to Papua New Guinea.

The notice instructs airlines and check-in personnel to ensure the Digital Arrival Card is completed before a boarding pass is issued.

Timing wording: ICA's homepage says PNGDAC can be submitted online up to 72 hours before arrival. That is more precise than saying it must always be completed “within 72 hours before departure.”

Specialist classes

Journalist, work and institutional applications can require approvals before lodgement

Journalist

ICA currently lists passport biodata page, return/onward ticket, sponsor letter, equipment list and approvals from the Prime Minister's Media Unit and Department of Foreign Affairs.

Employment

Employment classes can require sponsor documents, work authorization, qualifications, health records and character evidence.

Special Exemption

Aid, religious, research and official-purpose classes may require institutional sponsorship and government approvals.

What document does ICA currently list for the Easy Visitor Permit?

ICA's current 30-day and 60-day Easy Visitor Permit instructions state that the applicant provides a copy of the passport biodata page.

Do I need three months of bank statements?

Not as a universal rule. ICA's Business Short-Term Multiple Entry guidance specifically says a personal bank statement is not mandatory, although one may be requested.

Do I need a return ticket?

It depends on the class and circumstances. ICA's general FAQ says evidence of return travel may be requested, while some visa classes expressly list it.

Do I need a medical exam?

Medical documents depend on the purpose and duration of travel. ICA does not require them universally for ordinary short visitor applications.

When do I need a police certificate?

ICA says applicants aged 16 and over who intend to travel to PNG for six months or more must obtain a police certificate from their local police authority.

Is yellow fever proof always required?
